18ct White Gold Womens Wedding Rings

Plain Wedding Rings for Women

A plain wedding ring is simply a wedding ring which does not have any patterning or external engraving. Although refered to as 'plain' these stylish eye-catching rings are anything but. They are available in a range of popular profiles including classic court, d-shaped, flat court and flat. If you are uncertain as to the profile which you would find most comfortable don't worry. The Orla James sample service was setup specifically to enable you to check out some rings in your own time, from the comfort of your own home. No hard-sell from any aggressive sales people. We would far rather see you take your time when considering your wedding ring options so that you know that your final decision is absolutely right for you.

18 Carat White Gold

All gold used in the manufacture of jewellery is in fact an alloy of multiple metals, one of which is pure gold. Pure gold is 24 carat, which indicates that the precious metal consists of around 99.9% pure gold. It is naturally yellow in appearance but is incredibly soft and malleable, making it unsuitable for making fine jewellery.

18 Carat gold contains no less than 75% pure gold. The addition of more durable metals in the alloy makes it more suitable for the creation of jewellery. White gold is created through the addition of at least one white metal such as nickel, manganese or palladium. The properties of white gold alloys vary depending on the white metal used in the alloy. For example, nickel alloy is hard and strong making it ideal for rings. Rhodium is often used to plate white gold jewellery, providing the distinctively reflective, shiny lustre.
